About me
I’m Anna, mum of two and Early Childhood Teacher with almost 20 years experience teaching and learning alongside children from 0-8 years of age.
As an experienced Primary School teacher and after spending 11 years as an Assistant Director and Preschool Teacher in Long Day Care, I have a wealth of knowledge and experience that has shaped my philosophy and child-centred approach.
Early Childhood Education and Care is my passion. I studied to become an Early Years Teacher in UK and later deepened my knowledge for high quality early learning by completing an MA in Early Childhood at Macquarie University. I am constantly reflecting on my practice, reading about new and different approaches and striving to give children the best possible start in life by taking their holistic needs into account.
I opened Hearts & Minds in 2022 after having my own two children and moving to the Central Coast. I was honoured to be awarded FDCA Central Coast Regional Educator of the Year in 2023. I am grateful to be supported by Inspired EC Family Day Care scheme who share my passion for play and the wonder and magic of the early years. I use aspects of Reggio Emilia, Montessori, RIE, Nature Play in my practice and I am working towards becoming a Curiosity Approach Accredited setting, (thrilled to be one of the first settings in Australia!) My home has a dedicated Family Day Care playroom and backs onto a park. We are lucky to be within walking distance of the beautiful Mt Penang Parklands in Kariong. I use my car to take children on regular excursions in our community such as visiting the library and attending Bush Kids Playgroup at Kariong Eco Garden.
